The two nice seasons of the year are upon us folks. Here are some of my favorite things about Spring and Summer. Please feel free to share your favorites.
I love it when you spend an entire day outside in the sun and get all sleepy when you come inside. Those are some of the best naps you can take.
Pretty soon the lightning bugs will be back! Luckily for them, I have grown out of hunting them with wiffle ball bats. No creature on this earth chills out more than a lightning bug.
Baseball.
How about going to bars with patios? I love bathing in the sun on a patio slurping ice cold brewskies. Mmmm.
That really cool feeling of walking back into an air conditioned house after being in the July heat all day.
Barbecues.
Float trips and camping are good ways to spend time in the summer months.
Citronella candles. I hate mosquitoes, but I love the smell of citronella.
Getting a little tan.
All the trees have leaves AND birds on them again.
As girly as it may sound, I like seeing flowers blooming all over the place too.
Occasionally I fancy blowing all the seeds off of the dandelion things. This isn’t as fun as it was when I was a kid, but I still like the idea of helping out Mother Nature.
Another strange fascination of mine is mowing the lawn. I don’t know why, but I like cutting grass. I guess it has something to do with testosterone. Every man likes to keep his grass the greenest of all the lawns on the block. Unfortunately, it is my parents who have the yard, not I.
It just so happens that one of the best holidays in the year happens in the summer. Yes, my dearest reader, July 4th isn’t that far away. I lived in Long Beach last July and I must say, that was the craziest 4th of July I have ever experienced. My friends in SoCal know how to throw down on that day. We do it right here in Missouri too. Only problem is that its about 100 degrees with 100% humidity. Standing on the banks of the Mississippi under the Arch watching fireworks while piss ass drunk on Busch beer makes up for the shitty weather though. You can take me out of Missouri, but you can’t take the Missouri out of me.
Did I mention baseball and barbecues?
The summer is also great because I know THE most beautiful woman on the earth really likes to spend some of her days laying out under the San Francisco sun. When she is happy, I am happy.
Speaking of barbecue, I just interrupted the writing of this entry to enjoy some bbq and a beer in a frosty mug. Its funny how stuff like that happens. Come to think of it, there is no better way for me to close this post than that.
