Battles Live at Pitchfork Music Festival 200709.30.08

Battles is such a great band.  There is something so tribal about their music, I just love it.  The only thing about this album, and this song in particular, is the octave (or whammy) pedal / vocoder thing makes the lyrics sound something like “weeble woble ole sis padis.” I’m pretty sure that isn’t what Tyondai Braxton actually wrote. Nonetheless, kick ass song from a kick ass band.

My New Favorite Web 2.0 Site05.21.08

If you have any interest in online music collaboration, then I highly suggest you check out www.indabamusic.com.  I love it.  They’ve got a great interface to share ideas, open your ideas to the public, a pretty good online editor, and they just added some great new features.  The best part about it, for now, is that it is ad free.  Unfortunately, being ad free does force them to use a paid model for people who really want to take advantage of all the features.  You only get five projects with the free version, which kinda blows.

There is another site out there for creating virtual bands, but it isn’t quite as user friendly as Indaba.  For those of you who didn’t click on the link, this other site is called www.kompoz.com.  It does basically the same thing, but the interface isn’t as nice.  In fact, I got frustrated setting up an account, and I’m very Web savvy.

Radiohead Setlist May 15, 2008 - Saint Louis, MO05.15.08

So Radiohead was a religious experience last night here in Saint Louis. I kept my phone out and wrote down the setlist as it was being played. The editor-in-chief here at JustinSpeak is, as you have surely surmised, not hardcore enough to live blog a set list on an iPhone or anything, so this is a close second. Nonetheless, their show was awesome. Different setlist from one a few days ago, but still very awesome.

Radiohead TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!05.14.08

I’m pumped. For reals. After the show, I’ll blog the set list and give a quick review. I’ll leave you with some lyrics from Thom and the boys.

15 Step

How come I end up where I started?
How come I end up where I went wrong?
Won’t take my eyes off the ball again
You reel me out then you cut the string

How come I end up where I started?
How come I end up where I went wrong?
I won’t take my eyes off the ball again
First you reel me out and then you cut the string

You used to be all right
What happened?
Did the cat get your tongue?
Did your string come undone?

One by one
In procession
It comes to us all
It’s as soft as your pillow

You used to be all right
What happened?
Et cetera, et cetera
Fads for whatever
Fifteen steps
Then a sheer drop

How come I end up where I started?
How can I end up where I went wrong?
Won’t take my eyes off the ball again
You reel me out and you cut the string
